The sleep surface is upholstered on both sides with bonded Platinum Certified British fleece wool and cotton—a 1,350gsm layer that sits directly against the ticking. British fleece wool is naturally hygroscopic, drawing moisture away from the body and releasing it into the air, so the surface stays dry across temperature shifts through the night. Beneath it, a second layer blends Platinum Certified British fleece wool and cotton to add depth to the feel without introducing synthetic materials.
The spring system comprises 1,716 hand-nested vanadium steel pocket springs in a King size, each individually encased in breathable calico cotton. This arrangement allows each spring to work independently, responding to localised weight rather than transmitting movement across the bed. Vanadium steel maintains its temper through years of compression and recovery, while the border is upholstered with protective wool and finished with two rows of hand side-stitching to firm the perimeter and extend the usable sleep surface to the edge. Hand-tufting with felt washers anchors the fillings at regular intervals, preventing shifting or uneven compression over time.
